Alec is a wizard from a backwards no-where world, around twenty-three with the ability to manipulate the elements as well as few other tricks. He’s also an ancient eldritch entity that exists outside of space, time and reality and a fundamental reason as to why reality exists at all, having been around since before reality began and has the ability to manipulate the multiverse to his whims, wiping out entire realities if he felt like it.
He built the Inn because he got bored. Ancient immortal doomed to exist to the end of time beings do get bored sometimes. It happens. Bothering him isn't as bad as bothering the cook but do you really want to catch the attention of a bored ancient and powerful entity?
The Inn’s manager, he is overworked and under paid. He is also a dragon. While rather easy going and modest for a dragon he will become violent if anyone tries to mess with the staff, patrons or his horde. The only thing at the Inn that appears to seriously bother him is Moogie. His natural inclination is to pass off all the weird shit to the Innkeeper to deal with. Which he does rather gleefully. He doesn’t advertise his dragonic nature, but those who pay attention to such things they would see slightly sharper than human teeth and slit pupils.
Most people who frequent the Inn consider him to be the only sane man who suffers far too much having to work under the Innkeeper. It’s not that he’s a bad boss, he just causes rather strange problems that would cause any normal being to quit after the first incident. One might say that means that he’s probably not all that sane, but if someone feels that inclination it’s probably not a good idea to say it to his face. He is a dragon after all. One doesn’t bother dragons for they find you crunchy and good with ketchup.
Roz is the repairman who takes care of the Inn’s more mundane problems. These include things like fixing broken plumbing, replacing light bulbs and repairing electronics. From a world with no magic, he constantly feels uncomfortable with all the strange things that happen around the Inn. It makes him nervous and jumpy. Why he decided to stay is known only to him. It could be that his life back home was worse than being at a weird Inn or something else entirely.
Most of the time he tries to keep in the background with his head down and doing his job. That way he avoids much of the craziness that happens around the Inn. Whenever he gets caught up in it, it takes him a few days to calm down. The Innkeeper, staff and regulars frown upon anyone who seriously bothers him. Strangely he gets along rather well with Moogie and Spook.
Do NOT antagonize the cook. No one knows what the cook looks like. They never leaves the kitchen. Going into the kitchen beyond the service table will result in knives being thrown. Do not antagonize the cook. An antagonized cook results in food that is … not deadly but has unpleasant side effects. Anyone who antagonizes the cook will suffer quite a few consequences.
DO NOT ANTAGONIZE THE COOK
Spook is the Inn’s cat. She’s a ghost calico cat who adopted the Inn as her home after she died. Despite the Innkeeper’s best attempts to get rid of her because of his allergies she always manages to find her way back to the Inn. Like normal cats she is often found wandering around the Inn though her favorite spot is in front of the fireplace in the lounge.
As a ghost she is completely intangible except to those who can touch ghosts or intangible objects. That being said she still reacts to being petted like a normal cat and appreciates being played with. Being a cat she does some how manage to be a pest and knock things off surfaces, scratch the couch and other things like that. The reason as how she can do this is unknown but the general consensus is that it’s because she’s a cat.
Moogie is a baby mimic often found in the shape of a salt shaker. His favorite food is fingers and will try to bite any that come near him. Feeding him meat is a good way to get him to stop biting fingers. If a salt shaker is found in a random location, be it floor, wall, furniture or ceiling, it is more than likely Moogie exploring. It is highly recommended to not use the pepper shaker that Moogie sits with while in the tavern. This is his safety object and he gets rather aggressive when he thinks people are trying to steal it away from him.
As a mimic, whenever he isn’t moving he looks completely like a perfectly normal salt shaker. Thus beyond poking every salt shaker or using magic it is impossible to tell which salt shaker is Moogie and which isn’t. As management is training him to be part of the security they’re not going to tell people how to tell which salt shaker is real and which is Moogie. It’s also important to note that while he often is in the shape of a salt shaker this isn’t true one hundred percent of the time. He is a mimic after all and can currently take the shape of anything salt shaker sized. Telling if any object around is Moogie is as difficult as trying to tell which salt shaker is him. |
